how to use
-mix 1-3 drops to your usual moisturizer or body lotion and apply evenly to bone dry skin

we’ve all heard ingredients like antioxidants, retinol and hyaluronic acid are beneficial for the skin, but what do they actually do? understanding the difference between ingredients and how they affect your skin is critical when it comes to selecting products. also, never make a decision based on a marketing label. always check the ingredient list on the back. they’re listed in descending order starting with the largest amount in the product (usually water) to the least, so if a label promotes having a certain ingredient but it’s listed at the end, then not much of that ingredient is present

many people believe (with a passion) that natural, organic skincare is far better for the skin. the truth is, that belief is not based on any scientific validation. while we always stick to buying organic groceries, when it comes to skincare, the same rules don’t apply. in fact, many natural, organic ingredients are actually bad for your skin. just because a product claims to be all-natural or organic, doesn’t mean it’s safe. a certain ingredient might be healthy for your diet, but not effective or safe on your skin…

how to deal with hormonal acne

i’ve tried writing this post at least a dozen times. it’s such a vast topic that’s still evolving for me. balancing hormonal acne is something that takes trial & error. as someone who never dealt with teen acne, i suddenly began having breakouts that would reappear every month in the same place, usually consisting of 2-3 along the chin. while my case was not severe, it was still a struggle and not one i was familiar with. the worst part is that they would linger, giving me maybe one cyst-free week a month. thankfully, i’ve gotten to a place where i rarely have a cystic breakout and when i do, it’s much less severe and gone in a few days

skincare myth: drinking more water can cure dry skin

chances are you’ve been told to “drink more water” in response to your skin feeling dry. while drinking water is crucial for your overall health, when it comes to hydrating the skin, it won’t fix your problem any more than a bath will quench your thirst. although the skin is the largest organ in the body, it’s also the last to receive water, so it’s best treated on the surface using topical products

what causes your skin to feel dry skin…

the reason your skin feels dry is due to 1 of 2 reasons: the first is because it’s your natural skin type inherited by genetics, and the second is because it’s dehydrated due to environmental factors (low humidity/dry heat/the sun), harsh products, over exfoliation, etc. we wrote a post on how to tell the difference between dry and dehydrated skin here
