everything you need to know about our facetune laser

dip your toe into the laser pond with this gentle, non-invasive resurfacing treatment. it’s our go-to recommendation for event-ready skin (including brides, so you know we’re serious). it reduces fine lines, minimizes pore size, and improves tone & texture for a smooth, glowing complexion. celebrities have dubbed this the "red carpet treatment" due to the luminous porcelain doll skin glow that comes about 7 days post-treatment

my personal experience...

as someone who fights the aging battle, has hyperpigmentation (AKA sun damage) and suffers from rosacea, i'm pretty much down to try anything. this treatment targets all 3 of my struggles. the first time i tried it was during a training in which Rylie administered the treatment. i told her to be aggressive, and that she did. this means she not only used a higher setting, but also did more passes. what i love about this treatment, is that you can tailor it based on downtime. immediately after, my skin looked like i had a sunburn and was warm to the touch. by day 2, my redness was completely gone and the texture of my skin felt rough like a cat's tongue or sandpaper- this is totally normal and part of the healing process. by day 5, the sandpaper texture had disappeared and was replaced with brand new, baby-smooth, light-reflecting skin! i've never had a treatment give me that kind of glow before and my rosacea had also substantially gone down to my surprise. since then, i've had 3 more treatments and the results only continue to get better after each time

what is the facetune laser

a gentle, light skin resurfacing treatment that uses fractional laser technology. we like to call it "baby fraxel."

how does it work

it works by creating millions of microscopic treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin, which replaces damaged skin with healthy tissue, yielding younger-looking skin

what to expect during & after treatment

you will be numbed prior to treatment, so discomfort should be minimal. actual treatment time takes 15-20 minutes. immediately afterward, you can expect mild to moderate redness- this is a normal skin response to treatment and will subside in 24-48 hours. around day 2-3, your skin will have a sandpaper-like texture (only noticeable to the touch). this is the dead skin cells getting ready to "slough off" as new, fresh skin is regenerated and can last anywhere from 3-5 days

results

an immediate improvement in skin tone & texture after a single treatment. your skin will feel softer, look smoother and have a youthful, luminous glow. results can last for months depending on their age, skin condition and how they care for their skin post-treatment. with additional treatments, you will start to notice softening of fine lines, pore size reduction and clearance of pigmentation

are you a candidate

there are several factors that need to be considered to confirm this treatment is safe and effective for you... these include (but are not limited to)…

  • medical history
  • pregnant/breastfeeding is a no-go
  • no sun exposure 2-4 weeks prior and post-treatment (this includes sunless tanner)
  • you must be off accutane for at least 6 months to a year as well as any other photosensitizing medication
  • stop the use of retinol/retin-A or glycolic acid one week prior
  • wait 2-4 weeks after botox & filler

post-treatment

  • immediately post-treatment, your skin will have a heat sensation that will subside in 2-3 hours. you may ice the skin for 10 minutes at a time every hour
  • you may experience some redness and mild swelling, but both typically diminish within 12-24 hours
  • exercise can be resumed the day following treatment. avoid anything that causes heavy sweating while you're healing
  • avoid excessively hot water. baths are recommended for the first day or two, so you do not let too much water pressure touch your face
  • it is very important that you use recommended sunblock multiple times during the day to prevent sun damage to the skin. you should avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks post-treatment. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside. reapply sunscreen every hour. wear a hat. this will ensure you receive and maintain the best results from each procedure
  • your skincare routine for the first 1-7 days should be mild, gentle and non-irritating. avoid abrasive scrubs, toners, exfoliating acids and retinol. the skin is compromised after treatment, and we want it to heal naturally
  • once the sloughing, sand-paper like texture is gone, you may resume your normal skincare routine
  • over the next few days, you may experience some itchiness or skin sensitivity, both are indications of the renewal process
  • you may notice that your skin appears bronzed or little dark dots will appear on the treated area. your skin may also feel dry, peel or flake- this is the treated tissue working its way out of your body as new, fresh skin is regenerated
  • Advil or Aleve may be taken as an anti-inflammatory to help decrease discomfort and swelling
  • if you notice any blisters, cuts, bruises, crusting/scabs, areas of raw skin, ulcerations, active bleeding, increased discomfort or pain, pigment changes (lighter or darker than usual completion), or any other problems, please contact our office as soon as possible. note: all of these are very rare, so don’t worry, we do not expect them to happen. if they do, we can treat them

how many treatments are needed

the number of treatments is tailored to your concerns and skincare desires. on average, optimal results are seen after 4-6 treatments spaced 1 month apart. we refer to it as the facetune laser because of the immediate improvement in skin tone and texture after a signal treatment. once your skin heals, it's instant gratification like no tomorrow
