what's a good age to start injectables

the injection craze has not only erupted, but is here to stay. the old school mindset that you should wait until you see wrinkles before treating them is no longer the mentality. preservation is the name of the game...

we both started botox at 25 and go in every 3-4 months to maintain the results. in the rare event we allow our botox to completely wear off, we're delighted to see that no lines have had a chance to form. consider botox like pushing the pause button. it prevents the fine lines and wrinkles you already have from deepening. regular facial expressions will form permanent wrinkles over time, so by relaxing these muscles early on, you prevent future wrinkles from forming

word to the wise

if you're still on the fence about using injectables as a preventative measure, think of it this way: you put oil in your car to keep it going, you don't wait until it breaks down. routine maintenance is the key to keeping your car in good condition as it ages, and the same goes for your skin. instead of waiting for the inevitable to happen, start taking preventative measures before it does. if you don't address early signs of aging, you’ll end up spending more money and time to correct the problems. and for some individuals, it gets to the point where non-invasive measures won't cut it and surgery is the only option

when to start botox

if you notice even the faintest lines between your eyebrows or on your forehead while your face is in a resting position, it’s a good time to start botox. however, we started botox even before we noticed lines. reason being- when you inject these areas ahead of time, those lines never have a chance to develop in the first place

when to start dermal fillers

dermal fillers work differently than botox. they're primarily used to plump and add volume to areas such as laugh lines (around the mouth), tear troughs (under-eyes) and lips. they can also be used to enhance certain areas that need more contour/definition such as the jawline, cheeks and chin

as you age, collagen production slows down (stopping altogether in our 40’s), leading to wrinkles, sagging skin, bone loss, etc. although necessary, collagen supplements can only do so much. therefore, mid-20's-30's is often a good time to start dermal fillers. just like botox, starting early on will keep you from needing more product/units than if you than if you were to wait until your 40's & 50's
