why we don’t use steam in our facials...

for starters, if you’re someone with rosacea or sensitive skin, the heat from steaming causes dilation of blood vessels which leads to increased redness and inflammation- for that reason alone we’re already out

hotter temperatures and hot water also strip the skin of its natural oils, making steam not a good idea for people with dry skin or eczema

and if that isn’t reason enough, bacteria and mineral deposits will start to form over time on both the inside and outside of the steamer, having the potential to cause everything from blemishes to more serious skin infections

*this is why it is required for anyone offering facial steam cleansing to understand how to properly (and regularly) clean and maintain their device*
